Hogs aren’t as tough as a deer in my opinion.

Heading out momentarily to go hog hunting. Going to take my 7-08 and my 30-06, the latter because it is the rifle I have set up with a Photon XT night vision device. I personally think they are a bit tougher than deer but since I virtually always do CNS hits on them it is hard to tell since I generally shoot for lungs on deer.

For running shots take anything that will plant them right there .
But if you have time to brain shoot them go for the most accurate.

Congratulations on your upcoming hunt. Any of the sticks you mention will work very well on pigs. I'd even be happy to carry any of them, for the same purpose. That being said, I think I would make this a special trip for the whelen. As always, I would bring a back up, and that back up would be the 44. Just this old hilljack's opinion.

Savage, then the 44. Don’t just shoot one.

good luck with hunt, we certainly have plenty of them here, I have had to stop putting out corn. Got 31 different hogs on camera in one day at my place. Kids sure like shooting them.
